Background
Traditionally, business growth was looked at from the perspective of making sales for profitability, expanding outreach/numbers of people being served and standardization and replication of products and services were key business considerations. While the contemporary business perspective looks beyond the numbers to embrace putting members first to ensure establishment of lasting relations with members over time, making members feel special and being at best with each member. Member
service is the life blood of any organization. The former approach was only successful in environments where there was less competition the latter days then call for a perspective that a service /product that delivers on member value, views quality from the final consumers perspective. Therefore Quality service in this era is looked at what the member /client derives from consumption and not what the one puts in to
provide/produce a product.
Having realized the evolution in member service it becomes imperative for the sector service providers (SACCOs) to re-organize the front office department to adequately contribute to business growth, sustainability and respond adequately to the evolution with consideration of both the personal and corporate trends so as to remain in business without being thrown out by competition.
